DFI7

REFLECTION DFI7
  • What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Reinforced my understanding of what the future is looking like in terms of work and learning, and how my concept of literacy needs to broaden significantly to incorporate more digital literacy and fluency.

  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
I learned a bit more about coding and beginning programmes like Scratch and Hour of Code. A lot of my students use this in our classroom, but I haven't spent a lot of time on it myself, so this was useful.

  • What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
As above -

  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
Just some more general knowledge about how tech works, and the directions it is moving towards. Once again I learned just how much I don't know what I don't know.

  1. Tena koe Andrew,
Hopefully the learnings from the DFI will put you in good stead for how the tech works. The great thing with tech now a days is that the are lots of similarities between them so moving from one to the other gets easier and easier.
The idea of literacy has been evolving over generations and continues to evolve however the key idea is that good teaching is still the most critical part. Teaching our students to be able to access prior knowledge, make connections, effectively question, visualise, Infer, Summarise, and evaluate and synthesise is crucial and independent of the type of text.
    Nga mihi,
    Mark
